1990 Subaru Justy GL 1.0 petrol from Israel

Summary:

Was great for the time being, now I'm going for something better

Faults:

About a month after the purchase, the engine exploded. The problem was with the assembly of the new engine and not with the car per se.

With 37000 kilometers (23000 miles) that I traveled in the last year, I can't really expect better. The car is not really confortable, but when you are looking for a form of transport and not for a car, it's a perfect machine.

General Comments:

Not too comfortable and spare parts are becoming scarce.

For someone who is looking for a cheap affordable and reliable transportation mode, it's great.

1990 Subaru Justy 1.2 3 cylinder. from North America

Summary:

Great on gas, fun to drive, very reliable, worth fixing up

Faults:

In the short time I have had the car, not a whole lot has gone wrong.

I dug this car out of a barn, it had been sitting for 2 years without being used. The mice have gotten to the car, but once we cleaned it out and got rid of the smell it is a great car.

Even though it had been sitting, it was more than ready to run. It didn't even need to be jumped. It took right off and wanted to go.

I replaced the spark plugs, changed the oil, and checked all the fluids. The first thing I noticed was it didn't have power steering. But not until I was parking it did I realize it as it is very easy to drive.

The rear end of the car makes a knocking sound when in 4 wheel drive.

The hatch back door does not open and is frozen shut, it may take some work to get it open.

And the seats are a bit worn down. The car only has 63,000 miles on it, with one owner, and no rust anywhere on the cars body. Over all it is in great shape for being so old and will probably last another 12 years with care.

General Comments:

The car is not really ideal for long trips with the whole family as it doesn't give you much room to move around.

The seats are a bit hard, but Subaru is known for the seats not being the most comfortable. This is my third Subaru, first Justy.

1990 Subaru Justy 1.2 4wd 1.2 from Slovenia

Summary:

Great small car

Faults:

Only the service material. I haven't change anything else in over 13 years of ownership!

General Comments:

It's not very fast, but it is the most reliable car I have ever driven!

Very good fuel consumption (maximum 6 liters per 100 kilometers)

Cheap insurance.

Very good off-road (for a small car who isn't mend to be off-road)

I wouldn't know anything about safety of this car; it has never been crushed.

I've bought this car in 1990, when much loved 1988 Volkswagen Golf died on me (several times). Before Subaru, I have only owned German cars (they were all a piece of junk!. So I decided, to give Japanese a chance. At first, I was skeptic, but now I'm glad I did it. Subaru was cheaper than German cars and 100 times better. In near future, I will buy new Subaru. Those cars are worth every penny!

I have a 1991 4wd, Very fun, reliable and safe car. I hit a small moose (about 700lbs) with my Justy and the car has only one small dent from it. I bought two Justys and made one good car. I've put 3000 miles on the car with very little trouble (still working the bugs out), The odometer shows 80000, but it might have rolled over once. I average 28.5mpg, the gas tank only holds 9.2gal so it is not good for long trips. Overall it's a cheap, low maintenance car.

1990 Subaru Justy 2.9L 5 Speed from North America

Summary:

Great car at a great price, awesome on gas

Faults:

The brakes are going. I kind of don't want to fix them, but I will have to before winter.

Small oil leak on the engine. Tends to smell burning oil every know and then.

The dummy door locks are starting to go.

Some other minor things have also gone wrong.

General Comments:

The seats are very uncomfortable on long trips. I can't stand to be in them for more than an hour at a time.

It revs really high down the highway.

I put a stereo in it and have still yet to find the memory wire. The trunk is too small for my subs and it also lacks space for additional speakers. The stock speakers are also very difficult to gt at.

The thing that tends to be the most annoying is the dummy locks. Especially with other people and the passenger door.

Overall it is a great car. These few things can be ignored easily.
