1992 Subaru Justy GLi 1.2 from UK and Ireland

Summary:

Very Economical and pleasant ride

Faults:

Nothing has really gone wrong with the car except the clutch feels slightly lighter than it used to, but this is probably due to wear and tear.

General Comments:

Many of my friends underestimated the performance of the car when I first bought it. Taking them for a ride showed them otherwise with a descent speed and good handling and the 4WD extra certainly impressed them when pulling away after a corner.

The 4WD is good in difficult weather situations, but useless off road due to little ground clearance.

The Dash is also plain, but this should be expected in a car of this stature. Replacing the standard radio/cassette player with a CD player and installing rear speakers makes the ride much more enjoyable.

One point that really lets the car down is the gear stick. The stick is a long and flimsy tall stick with a rounded head with a big red 4WD button in the middle of it.

Other than that the seats are comfortable and the Justy provides a smooth ride.

Sometimes I question why there aren't more of these cars on the road.

Clutch being light is common on this model. Replacement costs around £80 from a specialist dealer.

1992 Subaru Justy GL 1.2 3 cylinder from UK and Ireland

Summary:

High miles per gallon for low price, just don't expect much else

Faults:

Started rusting at around 70,000 miles, now this has spread around all the arches, including front and back.

Peice of plastic on Indicator Switch Bank broke, had to replace with new switch bank, new one £300, so I fitted a second hand one for £30.

Probably only going to keep this car for another year, if it doesn't get terminally ill, and starts costing silly amounts of money.

General Comments:

Good little car if running about and occasional long journey is in order.

4 wheel drive is a good extra, but useless in real 4 wheel drive situations, just good for getting out of scrapes, Example Snow, Mud, grass.

The interior is fairly good, the wipe down surfaces are a must when having muddy boots, and there is a suprising amount of space if the back seats are lowered.

1992 Subaru Justy GLS II 1.2 from Iceland

Summary:

A very good car, but I would like it better with manual transmission

Faults:

My Automatic transmission blew when I had had the car for 7 hours, it took 5 weeks to repair it, but it's almost okay now.

General Comments:

I've driven a 27km long mountain road over a 800m high mountain in 11 minutes and I'd say that's quite a good time.
