I owned a sidekick 94 until up about a year ago went it died due only to the lack of good up keep by a first time driver. I got the car in 2000 and it died in 2004. I was extremely hard on it and it still drove just fine due the late oil changes and few car washs. Even through the minnesota winters and poor up keep it last till 170,000miles (~274,000km). Wish I would have taken better care because now I miss it like crazy.

I purchased my 1994 4x4 Sidekick JLX four door in September of 1994. I drive it on a daily basis and now have 202,000 miles on this great ride. I average around 24 miles to the gallon and scoot down the interstate at 85 miles per hour. I have changed the oil every 3000 miles and changed the timing belt every 60,000 miles. I had to change the radiator at 196,000 miles. The passenger side power windows stopped working about 4 years ago along with the power locks. With the cost of new motors at $400 a piece and the value of the vehicle at $1500 I can live with this inconvenience. Great vehicle, I would recommend the new Vitara to anyone.

I have a 94 sidekick that has the 8 valve engine. Wanna talk low on power?!? I have had it for about 5 years and am finally getting close to the 100,000 mile mark. With timing belt changed, a good tune up when I got it, and oil changes when they are due it still runs like a top. I can honestly say it is the most reliable rig I have ever owned. It is also the reason when my family grew we got an 06 Grand Vitara. I now own only Suzuki's and plan to until they stop making them. GO SUZUKI!!
