2002 Suzuki XL-7 2.7L V6 from North America

Summary:

Great family SUV, easy on the pocketbook, yet sporty and spacious!

Faults:

In a little over a year of 80% city driving, the only time we had to have this vehicle checked out was when there appeared to be a front seal leak. (ended up being a lube spill from the lube center the previous week!).

We have a small shimmy at highway speeds now that the snow tires and rims are back on for the winter that balancing has not seemed to rectify, but I doubt this is the Vehicle's fault. Still working on solution for this.

General Comments:

We chose this vehicle for its lower initial cost and better than average MPG. (On our vacation trip through the Rockies we averaged 26 MPG! (Imperial Gallons!) )

In getting used to the 5 speed transmission, we found that the torque curve appears to be a little higher than other vehicles we have owned. By changing our shift points up we have a peppy little SUV that the whole family enjoys driving.

We did not like the stock tires. We now run the original equipment Bridgestones on aftermarket mags in the summer, and have Toyo snow/ice radials on the stock steel rims during our Canadian winters. While tree and rock climbing are still out, what a difference the winter rubber makes in performance!

2002 Suzuki XL-7 base, 5 seats 2.7-liter, V6, 24-valve, DOHC Engine from North America

Summary:

A real bargain in the smaller SUV category!

Faults:

So far I have had nothing go wrong with my XL-7.

General Comments:

The Suzuki XL-7 is the best car I have ever owned. I loved my Grand Vitara, had it for 2+ years, but it was too small for our needs. When 0% financing and the 7-70,000 warranty became available, I went back to the dealer and traded in the GV for the XL-7.

I bought the base model without the 3rd row seat to gain more storage capacity.

Recently we used the 4x4 in snow, and the car performed beautifully. We went on back roads that were snow and ice covered, up and down significant hills, and we didn't slip or slid, but one time.

The only thing I will want to change is the tires. I have read reports that upgrading the tires makes this car even better in wet road conditions and improves the already good ride tremendously. I am about to take the car in for it's first service.

I was happy to see the safety rating was the highest given by the IIHS.

2002 Suzuki XL-7 Limited 2.7 4 cam V6 from North America

Summary:

The best SUV for the money. We looked at them all and this is the SUV that won over

Faults:

Nothing. Only thing that we had it back to the dealer was that it was a bit out of alignment. They repaired it.

General Comments:

Fantastic SUV.

7 passenger comfort and very good looking and reliable truck.

Suzuki really hit a home run here.

The leather interior is beautiful.

The engine is the smoothest that I have ever felt.

Trans shifts are almost imperceivable.

HVAC works wonderfully.
