Faults:

Front wheel hubs.

Shocks.

Brake discs.

Electrical problems.

Electric window switch.

General Comments:

This little 4wd goes anywhere the other 4wds will, and when tuned properly isn't too bad on fuel.

I am 5ft 5", and I have slept in the back of mine with the seats put forward. Mine also has rust starting in the roof/gutters, but I suppose it is to be expected with a vehicle of this age.

Only drawback is lack of recovery point areas.

I love this little 4wd. Small, compact, reliable yet robust & capable.

Faults:

The front and rear leaf springs were worn out when I purchased the truck.

The shocks were replaced shortly after purchase of the truck.

The stock bench seat was worn badly. The bench was replaced with bucket seats from a Honda Accord.

General Comments:

The stock bench seat was very uncomfortable.

This truck gets fairly good gas mileage. (17 city/ 24 highway)

The 22R is a great engine, But the stock carburetion system is not very good for off road.

This truck handles tough off road challenges and is mostly in stock form.

Faults:

This truck was and is beat up. I have installed several items that were no longer there because they had fallen off under the previous owner's use. Other than that, I would say the carburator has been the most troublesome. All of those vaccum lines and attachments are a real pain. I currently have it rigged so that it runs just fine. it currently diesels when I shut it off. A new carb would be a Godsend. I really can't say that anything else has gone wrong with it other than the fact that it doesn't heat very well.

General Comments:

I have been a devoted European car fan since high school. I never thought I would enjoy a beat up 4x4 so much. Sure it's beat to a pulp, but it gets you were you need to go. It will also get you were you don't need to go. I have 33" tires under it with the stock suspension. There is a lack of top end power because of that. I use low range off-road to compensate. The ride of the solid front axle is bone jarring. All in all, it's a little like a tin can sitting on top of an Army 2 and a half ton truck. I hate to admit it, but I love it.

Faults:

I had some problems with head gaskets and aluminum heads.

Other than that, typical wear was it.

General Comments:

Most dependable vehicle I've ever known.

The four wheel drive would go everywhere. The only time my dad got it stuck was because he didn't have both hubs locked in.

Faults:

Replaced the original 22R engine at 211,000 for better gas mileage and performance. Most repairs have been related to the engine swap or part of the 4wd buildup (lift, running gear upgrades, etc.) and to fix a roll over accident.

General Comments:

I love this truck. It never leaves me stranded, looks good, is comfortable to drive and ride in, and gets decent mileage (18 - 20 mpg with a 4" lift and lots of weight in it from parts, tools, winch, dogs, camper and running the A/C).
