1994 Toyota Carina GLI 1.6 from UK and Ireland

Summary:

This car is the most reliable car I have ever owned it just never lets me down

Faults:

Battery failed after 2years.

The radiator had to be replaced due to corrosion at the end of 2004.

General Comments:

I have never looked after it since I bought it in 1994 in fact I seldom wash it yet there is no corrosion, even round all its various scratches.

It has never had a service by a dealer just annual oil change and the spark plugs have never even been taken out since I have owned it in over 10 years.

It is still on the original exhaust system and still on its original brake discs.

1994 Toyota Carina GLi Estate 2.0 from UK and Ireland

Summary:

Excellent, reliable second hand value

Faults:

Rear number plate lamp bulb failed, but screws holding assembly rusted so bulb and assembly replaced.

Drivers door electric window is getting "tired", suspect motor needs replacing.

General Comments:

This has been a superb car. I am 6' 4" tall and have enough head and legroom. The car can carry four adults easily and four sets of golf clubs.

It performs well even compared to the Saab I had previously, OK so it doesn't set the world alight, but it surprises a lot of other drivers.

It sails through MOT tests and starts first time every time.

The auto box is a delight and the ECD setting means getting away from the lights is a blast.

I have every intention of seeing the thing into 200k miles.

1994 Toyota Carina Executive 2.0 from UK and Ireland

Summary:

A seriously reliable, comfortable car

Faults:

I have had to replace brake cylinders and disc's.

The off-side front window guides are worn such that the window does not seal properly at times.

General Comments:

Reliability has been excellent, this car has not let me down in over 5 years.

It is a large comfortable mile muncher, with relatively sporty looks.

Handling is not exactly one of it's strong points, though adequate in most conditions.

When worked the engine responds well and for a large car it is quite lively.

The build quality of this car is like nothing I have owned before. For example it still has the original exhaust and battery, the paintwork is in excellent condition and the interior is like new.

1994 Toyota Carina GLi 2.0 petrol from UK and Ireland

Summary:

The perfect all round car

Faults:

Rear nearside door does not lock with the central locking.

Cassette player not playing tapes clearly anymore, I believe the heads are worn out. Not really a major problem.

General Comments:

I love this car, it is highly reliable, quick and comfortable, and I think the above small faults are merely nit picking.

1994 Toyota Carina XL 2.0 diesel from Netherlands

Summary:

For private use maybe the best offer!

Faults:

Was in use as a taxi without problems. After 125,000kms the seats were loosing their form.

General Comments:

This taxi was only sold because it was -in fact- too small to carry four (big) persons.

Comfort, fuel consumption, etc... everything was OK. Our company started driving Toyota with the first Crowns in the 1960s. These could live on forever (when there was no such thing as rust). The Carina was a real family member. Very reliable, nothing spectacular!
