1994 Toyota Corona EX 1.8 from Uganda

Summary:

Super car

Faults:

I had problems with the engine and I had it re-done professionally.

General Comments:

I have driven good cars, high performance cars, both European & Japanese, but this is one of those super Toyotas. It has super speed/performance for a 1.8 engine and the starting power is super lovely. The booster gives it a turbo kind of operation and it's really good when engaged at 90Km/h. You will race most cars on a highway.

The most interesting part is the stability for a non sports car, the space and grip. I find it a better option amongst the Corona family.

1994 Toyota Corona GL 2.0 from Australia and New Zealand

Summary:

Not fast or flash, but damn reliable

Faults:

Radiator needed to be replaced at 150,000 K's.

Head gasket leak killed it at 283,000 K's, which killed it at the end.

General Comments:

Possibly the best car I've owned.

Had owned it for 18 years, and was driven every day and everywhere, and tackled all challenges like a champ.

Found it able to go 550-600 K's on a full tank of petrol. Which is pretty economical.

Body was hard and didn't pick up scratches / dings / dents easily.

Parts were cheaper to come by later on, as people sent them off to the scrap heap.

Easy car to learn how to do basic maintenance on - oil, spark plugs etc.

Wish they still built this car.

I agree with everything said in the previous review. I have had my 1994 2.0 GL Toyota Corona for about 7 years now, and it has been great. It's done over 205,000 kms now, always starts first pop, tows well, and has a good paint finish that still looks good. I would definitely recommend this car.

Also agree with this review. I had a Corona wagon throughout uni and it tolerated all manner of misuse. Overloaded flat moves. Unsealed roads and off roading. Floods. Delayed maintenance and never more than quarter of a tank of fuel. It was tough, simple and easy to maintain at home. I sold it still going (albeit tired) at 410000km. NZ new Coronas were comfortable and handled well. Chris Amon had a hand in tuning them for our conditions.

I have just acquired a 1 owner 94 Corona with just 132k on the clock. It is in immaculate condition and I have chosen to sell my 2009 Honda to run the Corona daily.

1994 Toyota Corona 1.8 from Australia and New Zealand

Summary:

Nice car

Faults:

I bought the car last year and I haven't had any problems with it so far.

Previous owner said there weren't any problems with the car and it was a good drive. And it certainly is.

General Comments:

Does anyone know if there are any modified Corona's (1994) out there? If so, please leave a comment.

I'm interested in tweaking my car for performance and style.

Here is a link I constantly visit. You may limit your search according to car make (in this case, Toyota) then model -- Corona. You can then specify your search further by year (1994) and... VOILA!

Be creative =) Enjoy.

1994 Toyota Corona Select Saloon 4A-FE 1.6 DOHC from Malaysia

Summary:

Nice, big family car

Faults:

Water pump leaking when purchased. Replaced under dealer's warranty.

LHS front door lower trim came off.

Knocking noise from the front suspension / steering (can't isolate the problem).

Headlights have turned yellowish. Toyota dealer says they need 1 month or more to order from Japan.

General Comments:

Car is quite powerful for a 1.6 litre. Compared to my previous car, that is.

Steering is light and responsive.

Parts easy get. Same engine as a Toyota Corolla (AE101,111).

Fitted 195/60 series tyres to improve the ride comfort.

Dashboard is dark brown in colour and looks cheap.
