1976 Toyota Crown CS 2.6 Carburettored petrol from Australia and New Zealand
Summary:
A unique Japanese cruising machine
Faults:
Blew up gearbox
Brake Booster failed in 1994
Interior cracks and deterioration
Rusts around back boot and window area.
General Comments:
You cannot kill the motors in these cars, absolutely bullet proof.
Watch out for demon rust that attacks the window areas.
The interior is quite comfortable and feels quite cozy.
Look for a fully imported model, they are less likely to rust (due to less time sitting in yards with just undercoat for protection), also the imported auto vehicles were equipped with the Toyoglide 3-speed instead of a weak Borg Warner transmission that was probably intended for the 4 cylinder variants, not the six.
Otherwise a nice big car.
