2005 Toyota Hi-lux Vigo 3.0 from UK and Ireland

Summary:

Reliable and great to drive

Faults:

I owned a 05 Hilux,. The jeep itself was very reliable and comfortable to drive. It was a good work horse.

The only problem I had with the Hilux is they don't handle very well in icy weather; mine skidded, the back end flew round, causing me to hit a ditch and flip over twice. The roof was caved in on the passenger side and all windows were smashed in, it is now written off. They should all be fitted with roll bars..

General Comments:

Seats comfortable, great power,

2005 Toyota Hi-lux Vigo 2.5L intercooled turbo diesel from Malaysia

A very good SUV

Faults:

Not even minimal mechanical problems. The only drawback is its bounciness.

It is a reliable car and is synonymous with the Toyota brand!

Does anyone out there have any tips to solve the bumpiness, especially the back seat?

2005 Toyota Hi-lux E 2.4 turbo diesel from Philippines

Summary:

The truck is in a class of it's own! big yet classy

Faults:

At 200kms I noticed that there were rust formation on the bed of the car, particularly on the corners.

According to the dealer it was just stains, they were happy to paint the whole bed so no big deal.

General Comments:

The truck is really nice and roomy.

My knees would usually hit the drivers seat when seated at rear. But this one is really roomy.

The engine power is just right, fuel economy is 10kms/liter in heavy city traffic.

I'm not happy though with the rear suspension, it's really stiff and bouncy.

If the rear suspension was as soft as a car, the vehicle would not be able to carry heavy loads.

2005 Toyota Hi-lux ViGO G 3.0 turbo diesel from Pakistan

Summary:

It's smart, tough and agile

Faults:

Nothing and it doesn't seem like anything will go wrong with it for a long time.

General Comments:

Wow!. What can I say Toyota have really came out with a bang on this one, its the most amazing and spacious SUT(Sports Utility Truck) I have ever seen. The looks are stunning. I spend the first two days just looking at it most of the time. It's a totally different and bigger thing designed from the previous models, although its not avaiable all over the world right now as it was manufactured under the IMV project in Thailand and will be on roads all over the world in 2006. So Iam one of the first previleged customers.

Lets talk about whats in the package. ABS brakes and driver airbag are standard. Front Independant suspension and rear live axle with leaf springs. Gas shock dampers. 1KD-FTV 3.0L D4D Intercooled Turbo Diesel 122kW power and 343nm torque. 4 speed ECT-i automatic transmission (really amazing).

Interior has it all. Two tone beige and brown interior with wood like touchings. Optitronic speedometer. MP3 compatible single CD and cassette player with 6 speakers. Airconditioning. 8 way adjustable driver seat. Spacious rear bench seat for easy seating of 3 adults.

Its no less than a luxury sedan when it comes to the ride quality, handling and performance. Its as good on pavement as it is on the beaten track. With the performance comparable to V8 gasoline engines it can go from 0 to 100kph in just 8.6 seconds with a top speed of 190kph (120mph). The engine noise and vibration are minimized to nothing.

I own an 05 Hilux Vigo in N.Ireland. Very happy with it, considering it replaced a Landcruiser 80. Loads of power, comfort and good looks. Leather interior is great and wood trim adds atouch of class not often seen in a truck. Much better looking than a Navara or a Isusu Denver. Toyota score again with this new hilux.
