I was looking for sports cars, and I am still forced to stick with my 1992 Paseo. This car is very very fast. It goes 0-75mph in about 6 seconds. Its gas mileage is incredible. Even with no airbags, the car is still pretty difficult to dent, and got a dent on the side when I got it, while, with a comparable Toyota, that'd have finished the car completely.
It accelerates so fast, that you have to be very careful not to speed. You have to look at the speedometer as there is no comparable change in the engine reaction until you are past at least 85 mph.
I think Paseo is the best car that they made. It's a sports car, and doesn't feel like one. I always pass by to see Toyota Paseo owners, and one for one, they prefer this car to the more expensive ones. Wonder why?

You guys haven't actually driven a "fast" car yet.
I drive a 96 Tercel Sport. It's by no means fast in any description of the word.

Well, I have driven a few Paseos in my life. A 92 Paseo was my first, and I was so impressed, I have stuck by them ever since. They are hard to dent. I emerged from a collision that totalled the other car, a Camry, and I could still drive mine.
It's quick, but avoid the auto. My 92 auto would get to 50 in no time, more like under 7 seconds no joke, then after that you were playing a waiting game.
The manual, on the other hand, is quick, and that's not a joke. And to say it drives like a sports car is probably an apt description. You can take speed bumps, and take turns that will spin most other cars. It's very well designed and very well balanced. I consider the Toyota Paseo to be the best designed front wheel drive car you can possibly get.
If you are looking for a quick car that you can drive daily, that doesn't fit any profile, this is the car for you.
It's hard to get someone willing to sell you this car. Those who have this car will not sell it.

Well, I got one. It picks up speed very very rapidly. 0-50 in less than 3 seconds. Very easy to be caught for speeding. In my case, I don't feel like I am even going any fast until I hit 80. I haven't tried going any faster than 85mph. I got mine new and the only thing I had to fix was an ruined thermostat. It has very good mileage, but the back area is not spacey.
