1994 Toyota Pickup DX 3.0 V6 from North America

Summary:

Great reliable truck that's really fun to drive

Faults:

I have not had any item go wrong with the truck since I have had it. I am the second owner with 0 repair cost.

Actually, I did have to buy 2 parts when I bought the truck. The knobs that pop on the window hand crank. I bought them both for $3. That's it.

General Comments:

I love this truck. I have had MANY cars, but this is my first truck. It's the basic 'no option' truck with absolutely no frills. Manual 5 speed, no A/C, manual windows, extra cab, 4x4, and the 3.0 V-6 only has 150 horses, and I would highly recommend NOT to race for pink slips.

However, gas is great for a truck. I can go 20 miles a day in traffic or 2 weeks on a tank.

A major plus in my opinion is the little triangle windows that swivel out to bring in air when driving. The amount of air they bring in is impressive, but still wish I had A/C.

1994 Toyota Pickup 4x2 Extended Cab 2.4 from North America

Summary:

It's reliable and awesome!!

Faults:

I have had to put in a clutch, timing chain, new rear axle, catalytic converter.

General Comments:

This car was made in Japan, and considering the miles, I believe I have spent an average of less than 50/month on repairs. Which is very good, considering the mileage of 289,000.

Have basically done routine maintenance, and now it's starting to need a few more things, but still cheaper than getting a new car.

I have had lots of guys want to buy this.

Has been hit by deer about 4 times, so the body looks great as it has been totally replaced and repainted a few times.

I would buy another made in Japan Toyota in a heartbeat; love these trucks.

1994 Toyota Pickup 2wd, reg cab, base 22R-E 2.4L from North America

Summary:

Bullet Proof

Faults:

I have worn out the timing chain twice.

The starter/battery once.

I have now worn out the driver seat.

General Comments:

This truck is stone cold reliable.

Nothing ever breaks on it, only wears out eventually.

It has malfunctioned only 3 times in 9 years, and was still able to move.

It is not the most comfortable ride, and the tiny cab is cramped, but handles very well.

I have taken it all over the country and gotten into stuff I would not recommend any one try, and it has taken a bad beating a few times and does not stop running.

1994 Toyota Pickup Xtra cab 4x4 3.0L V6 from North America

Summary:

The best purchase I ever made!

Faults:

Oil pressure gauge failed at 210,000.

Replaced starter at 230,000 miles.

General Comments:

The V6 engine is sluggish at low RPM's, but otherwise a great performer. Great offroad abilities and sure footed on the highway. The truck handles like new with a quarter million miles. Clutch is ORIGINAL and going strong. This is a great truck for work or play unless you have to tow anything bigger than a jet ski or pop up camper.

1994 Toyota Pickup DX Extra-Cab 4wd 3.0L V6 from North America

Summary:

One word describes this truck, indestructible

Faults:

The head gasket failed at 95,000 miles, but this was a warranty issue, so no skin off my back.

The shifter box broke at 160,000, but was a relatively cheap fix (<$200).

Passenger side seat belt can be a pain to put on because it constantly locks.

General Comments:

I will never sell this truck. This truck has never stranded me, only requires routine maintenance and is relatively cheap to fix if something ever does go wrong. It still has the original battery, clutch, starter, and other parts that I expected I would need to be replaced by now. It gets decent gas mileage (20mpg), and is great for long road trips. I take this truck over 10 to 12 thousand foot mountain passes frequently, and although it lacks in the power department (keeping your momentum is key), I constantly find myself passing trucks with double the horsepower because of it excellent handling.

I agreed with you except one thing. I also have a 94 Toyota 4x4 pickup with just over 100K miles on it. A couple weeks ago, after I filled up the truck in a gas station. The timing chain broke when I try to start the truck. It costs me almost $1800 to get it replaced. I was so surprise that the timing chain actually broke at just over 100K miles and how much it cost to fix it. Other than that I really like this truck.
