1995 Toyota RAV4 2.0 from Australia and New Zealand

Summary:

A bit thirsty, but recommended

Faults:

Nothing really.

General Comments:

Handling and fuel consumption not the best attributes of this car (compared to some sedans and hatchbacks from Toyota), but OK given that the car weighs around 2 tonnes and is a 4wd.

Front seats are relatively comfortable, rear seats are best for around town; not comfortable enough for long trips (say more than 1.5 hours).

Reasonable boot space, parts easy to obtain.

Useful for ski trip for four (being a 4wd with high ground clearance). Also I've occasionally taken the car to the beach for a drive.

Another advantage of having high ground clearance is that the car can be driven around town without having to slow down at those speed bumps :-)

You have overestimated the weight of your RAV4. According to manufacturer's handbook, it has a curb weight of approx 1320 kilogrammes (1.320 tonnes). This is nowhere near 2 tonnes.

1995 Toyota RAV4 from North America

Summary:

Love this car

Faults:

I love this car. I have had it for 15 going on 16 years.

The engine was recalled by Toyota several years ago and was replaced. Otherwise, I have spent some money over the years on a catalytic converter, and I replaced the transmission this year.

The air conditioner pump had to be fixed last year, and a power door had to be fixed. Otherwise only routine maintenance. I would buy this car again.

The only thing I noticed in many cars like mine was the poor paint on the hood; it started to peel and rust the first few years I had the car.

General Comments:

This car handles very well on the road and in icy conditions.

1995 Toyota RAV4 2.0ltr from Australia and New Zealand

Summary:

Great!

Faults:

Nothing!!!

General Comments:

Timing belt replaced at 95,000, for a 4WD the car handles very well, the 2.0ltr engine is very quick with a lot of power. The ride height is perfect overall the best car I've owned.

I have the four door and there is a lot of room, only one problem it has a lot of road noise at speeds over 80kmh, but apart from that it's hard to fault the RAV.

1995 Toyota RAV4 GX 2.0 from UK and Ireland

Summary:

Great reliable all-rounder at a great price

Faults:

The only fault has been the rear windscreen washer, which never functioned when I bought the car. A simple plastic clip for the hose was bought and fitted to fix.

Have had the car serviced and my mechanic couldn't find a thing wrong with it.

General Comments:

My RAV4 is exceptionally good value for money. I bought it at trade price and it seems a bargain.

It handles well in all weather on the roads. This is mostly due to the all wheel drive system which grips the road very well indeed. A high driving position, ABS brakes and power steering all make it easy and fun to drive car.

The interior appears to age well and wear slowly and despite the fact I have a 3 door model, the lack of rear leg space (which is still enough for a average guy to feel comfortable in.) is made up for in rear head room, which is fantastic.

The cabin and dash is very basic with a few cubbyholes and 4 cupholders in mine. However its all well layed out and easy to get too, and the drivers position is spot on for me.

The rear door gives access to a very small space for rear luggage. I use a small cargo net to store small odds and ends and there is still room for a large suitcase. But when I want to take bigger loads, The individual rear seats fold over and up to create a whopping boot space.

I would recommend if you buy the car to buy a centre console box/armrest, which is not available in the UK, but can be bought online. Makes for complete comfort.
