1996 Toyota Scepter 2.2g Wagon 2.2 I-4 from Australia and New Zealand
Summary:
I like this car a lot!!!
Faults:
The previous owner replaced the engine, but he didn't have the oil seals replaced. So I fixed them myself.
The automatic transmission didn't seem to feel and look like it has been serviced since 0 kms. It became really inefficient at 230,000 kms, but that is acceptable. The transmission didn't bog down, it just slowed the performance of the car. The solution: A 5 speed manual conversion and that boosted the fuel efficiency to 8.1 L/100 km.
The engine and car design is very well engineered. Problems occur on OEM parts due to manufacture quality.
General Comments:
This car just runs. The components of the car are simplified, making everything reliable as.
It is also very cheap to run.
Since it's big, semi-luxurious inside and fuel efficient, it is a must have car.
Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Yes
