2011 Toyota Tacoma Prerunner SR5 4.0 V6 from North America

Summary:

Great small truck!!! Dependable, reliable and bang for the buck!!!

Faults:

So far I've had to replaced headlights, purchase new tires (factory tires are terrible) and a new battery.

Oh, and I hit a guard rail, but the Taco kept driving strong for the week it took to get in the body shop.

General Comments:

This 6 cylinder Tacoma is strong and reliable. Power train hasn't changed much in years, so it's a proven system. Best car I have ever owned. Not much else to say, a great vehicle.

**Side Note** I am 6'1" and the rear view mirror kind of gets in the way. Not a big deal though.

General Comments:

It's a SUV with a truck bed, no more, no less; don't expect it to haul like a full size truck, because it won't.

I am the same person and owner that wrote this review, and a year later, I have better thoughts about my 2011 Tacoma.

First, the rough sounding engine noises are gone. When it was new, the valves would tap upon start up, and now it's quiet.

Second, the gas mileage has improved from 14 to 17 MPG. I have 8000 miles on the truck now, and it will tow a 3000 lb trailer.

The only bad thing I can say about it is it wanders on the road at high speed, but I blame that on the stock tires. I believe if I install better quality tires, it will almost be perfect.

2011 Toyota Tacoma 2.7L 4 cylinder 16-valve from North America

Summary:

Do not buy a 2011 4 cylinder Tacoma!!!

Faults:

Had snow tires (Goodyear Tiger Paws) installed by the dealer at time of purchase. I experienced severe shaking when driving. It took a lot of convincing to get the service people to realize they installed a faulty tire. They eventually replaced it. That much effort on my part should not have been necessary.

General Comments:

It shakes way too much when in idle. Service manager says that is the way 4 cylinder Tacoma's are - very shoddy!!

It is really gutless. I knew this from the test-drive, so not a deal breaker for me.

Window sticker and the Toyota brochure said my Tacoma was wired with the antenna installed for satellite radio. IT WAS NOT. Toyota nor dealer sales manager would do anything about it. They said a follow-up notice was sent to dealers by Toyota that wiring and antenna were not going to be included in my model. Salesman failed to inform me. This would have been a deal maker.

I bought a 2010 access cab 2.7 5 speed 2wd. I was thinking just the other day while sitting at a light, of how I did not know if the engine was running or not. I had to look at the tach to see. It is that smooth. That originally was a 4 cylinder issue with me. Almost went with a six and double cab auto. After listening to Lindsey Williams (Infowars.com) about Ken Fromms future oil prices, set by the oil elitists and the Bilderbergs, I took another look at a 4 banger.

I tried the auto trans. models, and after trying 4 of them, I tried a 5 speed. I did not know if I wanted to shift gears, but there was such a difference in power, I could not believe it. Now I am used to shifting, and do not even think about it. 150 km/h is effortless. That is why I tried 4 auto trans., because I could not believe the difference, and kept thinking that something was wrong with those trucks.

Very happy with the mileage as well... Revs are only at 2 grand at 100 km/h too. Almost bought a full size Chevy. Glad I did not.

2011 Toyota Tacoma Double Cab 4x4 4.0 V6 from North America

General Comments:

I purchased the 2011 Toyota Tacoma for better fuel mileage with the cost of gas going up, and for a much lower loan payment. With the Toyota, I am paying $200 less on the monthly loan and almost double my gas mileage compared to my former Ford F250, 11 MPG compared to 22 MPG.

The Tacoma is like driving a car to me, it's easy to drive and better to park in tight spaces.

Love the 4x4; when I select the 4x4, it engages quickly, unlike my former Ford 4x4, where you had to wait for it.

The 2WD traction is excellent, where I found in heavy snow I didn't need 4x4.

The front seats are too low; the only comfortable position is the driver's seat all the way back, and I am only 5' 10" tall, taller drivers may have a problem.

Engine power (4.0 V6) is better than expected, brakes are excellent. Can't comment on the dealer and reliability, because I never had any problems where I had to deal with it yet, since it is just new.
