1993 Vauxhall Cavalier Turbo 4x4 2.0 16V Turbo petrol from UK and Ireland

Faults:

You name it:

Cam belt snapped after dealer had changed at 36k miles. Cost £2000+. Luckily part was under warranty.

Tyres - all four must be replaced at the same time £600+.

Clutch cable.

Front discs and pads.

Core plugs.

Exhaust.

Various mountings/bushes.

General Comments:

I had the car for 2 years and in that time it gave me so much pleasure but cost me dearly.

Outperforms Cosworths without chipping.

Rare sight.

Leather interior superb.

Main dealers seemed to think that because I drove a top of the range Cavalier then I would pay for anything repairing. They seemed to find things wrong at every service. I don't think I had a service that cost less than £400.

Be warned - lovely car, thirsty on fuel 26mpg at best, heavy on servicing.

1993 Vauxhall Cavalier SRi 8v 2.0 8v petrol from UK and Ireland

Faults:

Only failure so far heater panel bulbs, rattle on drivers door panel.

General Comments:

Much better to drive than 16v (you only thrash it if you want to!!).

Buy a "Scorpion" Stainless exhaust it sounds lovely and it's actually quieter than standard.

This is one of the most silly comments that I have ever heard.. better than 16v.. I have had both 16 and 8v.. you don't have to be a bright what one was the better ride.. 8 v is slow unless all the mod coms come out and you spend ££££s.. get the eco 16 v and get an good exhaust and good filters.. ace car!
