1999 Vauxhall Corsa Sport 1.4 16v - 90bhp from UK and Ireland

Summary:

Insurance friendly GSi alternative

Faults:

Apart from a very annoying buzzing sound, coming from just above the dashboard, nothing - touch wood!

General Comments:

Impressive 90bhp engine, gives 60 in 10.5secs and a top speed of 112mph (these are manufacturers figures, more like 120mph).

My car is totally standard. Handling is not brilliant, body roll on corners and snaking on high speed braking.

Looks are clean and sporty, however it's is a bit cutesy.

No sideskirts, no fogs and three spoke alloys. Not the best looking car on the road!

However equipment levels are very generous - air con, alarm, electric heated mirrors, CD player electric windows, all as standard.

Quite poor handling.

General build quality is good.

Engine is good.

Poor styling for model - no side skirts, fogs lights and wheels look bad.

Good comfort for the class. Excellent extras - air con, electric/heated mirrors, electic windows, CD player etc

1999 Vauxhall Corsa Club 5 door 1.7 diesel from UK and Ireland

Summary:

A small car with great performance

Faults:

Power steering drive belt screeches, has been adjusted several times under guarantee, starts screeching within a few weeks of adjustment.

Nothing else has gone wrong.

General Comments:

I am reasonably satisfied with the vehicle, good performance, comfort and exceptional road holding.

Just hope some solution can be found to stop the screeching belt problem.
