2003 Vauxhall Corsa SRi 1.7CDTI from UK and Ireland

Summary:

Does exactly what it says on the tin

Faults:

Minor Accelerator Sensor Problem.

General Comments:

Our car is a 1.7CDTI SRI 5 door.

We bought it as we wanted a small diesel hatchback with 5 doors and air conditioning and this fitted the bill. It was an ex-demonstrator with 6000 miles and we paid £9, 500 for it. It has now done 27,000 miles in 2 years.

Apart from a problem with a throttle sensor (significant only as we were going to Scotland for a weekend break) it has never missed a beat. My wife uses it every day for the 40 mile round trip to work and we use it at weekends for shopping et al.

We have a four year old son and there is ample room in the back for him and his clutter.

The turbo kicks in at about 2200 revs and for a further 500 revs I am king of the road making overtaking an absolute joy.

I have no idea why they get so poor markings in the car press, I have driven the alternatives and they do not come close (I test drive cars for noise vibration and harshness for a living). Citroen C3 1.4 HDI? Atrocious.

My only complaints are that the ride can be a little choppy due to the 'sports suspension' and the low profile tyres, but that is probably due to me getting old. Secondly it seems to attract the boy racer element 2 inches from my rear bumper flashing their lights everywhere I go (please just overtake me if you can).

Now the C3 comes with a 1.6 HDi 110 which will kick the 1.7 CDTi's butt.

The guy is talking about the ride and quality not the performance. Have you talked your Dad into buying one yet?

I've found that the 1.7CDTI SRi keeps up with the Golf GT TDi all the way pass 100mph! Due to the cars size, but powerful engine it would be hard to beat in a larger car with a smaller engine, even it has more power because power isnt everything, its how you drive ;)

2003 Vauxhall Corsa SXi 1.7 DTi from UK and Ireland

Summary:

Great Sporty Diesel

Faults:

Nothing!!

General Comments:

This car is a great little performer from Vauxhall. Do not be put off by the turf burner under the bonnet, it pulls right through the revs. Although for me it seems a little underpowered, I intend on getting a remap of the ecu to take this sporty little car to 100bhp.

The interior is very well laid out and the silver trim adds a sporty touch.

The sporty bucket seats that come as standard are very comfortable and securing.

I would recommend this car to anyone.

Can easily do 55mpg+

And it eats Saxos, and Fiestas for breakfast!!

Beware boy racers!!

Hmm...

I suppose it depends on the Saxo and the Fiesta?

Anything more than a 1.4 in either of those cars and I'm afraid the Corsa's not keeping up, lol.

What's the insurance like on one of those though? I'll be needing to get a car for my wife when she passes her test soon and she'd like a small diesel hatch.

2003 Vauxhall Corsa SXi 1.2 16v from UK and Ireland

Summary:

Sound, small car that is sure to delight all ages

Faults:

There is a squeak that seems to come from the front right brake, but it seems to come and go. But is not noticeable when you have the window shut. But gets louder when it is wet.

General Comments:

Handles like it's on rails.

The cabin is very roomy and is extremely comfortable.

It is quite quick off the mark, and as I am only 17, the insurance is reasonable too, considering it has alloy wheels, CD player, side skirts, spoiler etc.

2003 Vauxhall Corsa SXI 1.2i from UK and Ireland

Summary:

Vauxhall...Congratulations!

Faults:

Nowt!

General Comments:

Well, it`s a long story!...

Basically, I previously owned a Cinquecento Sporting, and managed to crash the it twice! The little bugger managed to get itself repaired on both occasions, which was really annoying!

The second time that I crashed it, it took two months to fix! Therefore, I was given a 54 reg Corsa SXI (5- door). This is when my quest for a Corsa begun!

I knew right away that this is the car which I wanted to buy! I knew that I wanted the same model, in black, but I wanted a 3-door instead! At the moment, 3-door, Corsa SXI`s in black are like rocking horse poo!

I eventually found the perfect Corsa, on a 03 plate!

What can I say!?...I LOVE this car! It`s fast, looks sporty... and is pretty much damn sexy!

My model came with:

* Alloys

* CD Player

* Twin Airbags

* Front Fogs

* Steering wheel mounted radio/ Cd controls

* Silver/ Aluminum gear knob, door handles and dash

* Air Con with recirculation

* And much, much more!

The car drives really well! The car is that quiet when I`m sitting at traffic lights, I sometimes need to turn the radio down, just to see if the cars still running!

The car is really nippy! It has great power in 5th gear! It has no problem handling around town, on country roads and performs brilliantly on the motorway!

Fuel consumption is brilliant! With both urban and motorway driving, I can get around 130 miles from a tenner!

The interior is really comfortable! My Corsa is a 3-door and I can fit 3 of my mates in there, no problem!

Don`t even think about buying one of these cars...just, buy one...NOW!
