I Have a Corsa 1.4 sxi 16v 3 door. It is a 52 plate and has only 31000 miles on the clock. The speedometer does not work, the power steering goes on and off. The car creeps forward when in first without revs. The engine has a constant knocking sound. Overall the worst car I have ever purchased in 17 years.

Update on my original rating. Car goes from bad to worse.

Oil pressure sensor is leaking again!

Timing chain is rattling again.

Problems with gear selection again

Steering has started pulling to the left.

I can't wait until September when I can replace it unless hopefully it catches fire before then, if it does I will not be in a hurry to call the fire brigade.

AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE, this must be Vauxhall's idea of a joke, never again.

Vauxhall Corsas are not good at all. I've got a 2002 one and I've had the oil pressure switch leak loads of times. I think its the 4th time now!

The engine is way too noisy, the gear box link has been replaced, something went wrong with the front suspension costing £400, and it's only done 36000 miles. Definitely avoid!!!

Hi mate, you have speedo issues. Mine went like that; started by needle flicking, then stopping working. On your passenger side strut there is an ABS brake speed sensor - a long black plastic unit with wires going to a block connector. It's Allen bolted to the caliper. Take that out, pull out the unit and disconnect the block connector. They are about £20, and the fit is the reversal of removing it. Make sure the lead is tie wrapped to the strut or it will rub on the wheel rim and mince through it. If that does not cure the problem, where your sensor meets the driveshaft, check the threepenny bit shaped metal ring. Pry the edge with a screwdriver; if it has side play it will need changing - your driveshaft will need to be disconnected to change it.

Hope this will sort your issue, MICK N.

Hi there. I see you have a bad car. If you like the Corsa C model, you would be better off going for a Corsa 1200cc C model. I have a 2002 Corsa C 1200cc, which I paid £600 for nearly 2 years ago. It's had the odd little niggles, but for reliability it's been brilliant. It has covered 134 000 miles now and still runs sweet as a nut. Mine has cam belt wear; the 1000cc model has a timing chain, which when worn sounds awful, so why not try the 1200cc SXi C model. Keep away from the D model Corsa as they have mega issues.
