2001 Vauxhall Omega CD 2.2 from UK and Ireland

Summary:

Excellent car all round, vastly underrated

Faults:

Breather Pipes blocked at 36000 miles.

Brake discs warped at 40000 miles.

Heater Bypass Valve failed at 45000 miles.

Nothing since car had not been well maintained when purchased.

General Comments:

Big and roomy car with massive boot. Excellent level of equipment on this model. Very comfortable with good driving position.

Performance of 2.2 is good. Not the fastest car on the road, but the right sized engine for this size of car for normal motoring.

Due to large access to boot and large access into the passenger compartment it isn't as limited as other saloons when compared to hatchbacks.

Economy is good for the size of car, although it does suffer round town. Car is best on long journeys.

Reliability can be an issue, with dealer services not covering all the maintenance issues. Parts are cheap and OEM parts are good quality and value.

Secondhand price is very cheap for the class of car and the equipment/trim level. The low price doesn't reflect the quality of the car and comfort level.

Easy to upgrade equipment. e. g OEM Cruise Control can be retrofitted for less that £50.

2001 Vauxhall Omega MV6 3.2 24 valve from UK and Ireland

Summary:

This car is a mean machine

Faults:

I brought my 3.2 V6 just under a month ago, I have to say it's the best car I've ever owned, touch wood!! It has great performance and is exciting to drive. I love the interior, and the finish is excellent. Luxurious and Sporty with tonnes of toys to play with. This car is a real haed turner.

The only downside is that everyone thinks that I'm in an undercover police car, so drive painfully slowly!

Everyone should have a 3.2 MV6.

General Comments:

I love this car.

Great ride and comfort.

Great sound from the V6.

2001 Vauxhall Omega Elite 3.2 from UK and Ireland

Summary:

Quick, big and very, very comfortable

Faults:

Power sounder would go off every 3-4 days. Dealer replace sounder for £140. That's been it.

I have also replaced one of the lines going from the fuel pump in the tank, as it had a small hole and was letting in air. So the system would not keep pressure, and would be hard to start and would not pick up at 2,000 RPM at times. It would also cut up when low on fuel, only going round a right hand bend, up hill? All better now; running like a dream.

General Comments:

Like the look, and the layout is good. This is the first car that I have had with sat nav built in, and I like it. Very easy to use, and have just updated it with a 06-07 sat nav disk for £60 from Navtech.

For a car that is almost 2 tons, it can move. I have had it remapped by Chip UK; good guys. When the guy took it out to test it before the remap, he told me that it was very quick for an auto. I also have an ITG air filter fitted.

Love the car. Great on the motorway. MPG is about 30-31. It is like driving a very quick living room. I look forward to driving it every day. Not many people can say that.

Sometimes people think that it is an unmarked police car, as it has blacked out windows in the back.

Hope to keep the car for a very long time.

I had just started to run it on Tesco 99 RON. On the first tank, it felt good, and the car seems to like it. They have now STOPPED Tesco 99 RON, and I am now using the new 99 RON Shell fuel, which is working very, very well. The car seems to love it.

Just now looking for a good place to have the cam belt changed. I have the oil changed every 5-7k.
