Our car still has a problem with the alarm going off for no reason! However, overall we are very pleased with it. Shame they're not in production any more.

We have a 2.2CD Sintra and it has been plagued with faults since we have had it. First was the ABS light kept coming on. This turned out to be a faulty solenoid. We still suffer from the alarm being triggered frequently for no reason - Has anyone managed to find out what is causing this as the Vauxhall dealer has no idea.

I had the same problem with the alarm going off for no reason. Simple fix was putting clingfilm over the internal sensors at the top of the front windscreen. Has worked for over 3 years and never gone off since.

I purchased 2 of these brand new in 1997 and 1998, and they had small issues from the off, the first one being a damaged wiring loom, which was embarrassing being jump started on a Vauxhall forecourt in a brand new car (first car), but it was soon repaired, and the other issue was a leaky boot seal (on the second car) because the seal had not been fitted correctly at factory.
As for the alarm, both of these cars suffered with this problem, and I just turned it off using the key on top of the alarm under the bonnet. Having said all that I loved the car that much, I have just purchased a 10 year old one, and apart from a wheel bearing needing replacing, which I knew about when purchasing the car, it is fantastic.
Where can you get a car this practical for under £1500, and be able to get 7 fully grown adults in with ease? You try that in a Zafira!!! Vauxhall need to look at updating this car and bringing it back!!!

If only I'd known about the alarm fixes. I've given up locking the car - far too embarrassing in the middle of the night!
How did you check out your 1500 new purchase? My beloved 3 litre CD has finally given up the ghost. You've inspired me to think about purchasing a repacement.
Here's to the surviving Sintra owners - to know one is to love one.

I purchased a Vauxhaull Sintra 2.2 CD just before Christmas, and have a couple of the problems previously mentioned - namely driver window - fixable by tightening the internal screws or bolts on the w frame apparently (will find out next week) and the intermittent alarm.
I love the car; it's spacious, comfortable and economical, but I am desperate to obtain a manual for it - any ideas??
