Faults:
Wiper arm changed due to 'clunking'.
Alternator failed and burnt out wiring harness when it went.
Clutch replaced at 12,000 miles.
Mud flaps fitted incorrectly by dealer - rubbed on tyres.
Persistent rattle from rear hatch, (tightening the lock helps but doesn't cure.)
Persistent rattles from interior, driver door, passenger door, facia and passenger seat.
Left hand door speaker distorts sound or rattles when played moderately loudly.
Steering/final drive transmission prone to 'clunking' when pulling away and simultaneously turning round a corner.
General Comments:
The drivers seat is uncomfortable - almost impossible to get the driving position 'right'. I have installed a right upper leg support 'pad' - I'm 6 ft tall slim/average build.
Previously owned Vauxhalls - over the last 15 years - have been sound as a bell with no mechanical faults. This is the first GB built I've had. What a let down! It just hasn't been screwed together properly! Even the smooth engine is hampered by highish ratios, it can get to 70mph in second gear! Perhaps they were chosen for economy, or with more power in mind?? It could have been really sporty - perhaps with a six speed box?
At its best between 70 and 120 on long straight roads, not quite right for the UK!
