2004 Vauxhall Zafira Design 1.6 petrol from UK and Ireland

Faults:

Hi, well I too have found that on my 05 plate Zafira, it has a complete loss of power and generally limping home.

This only happens when I go on the motorways, not when I am driving locally.

To ensure you don't get ripped off at the garage, call the RAC or AA etc.. and get them to diagnose the problem, it will generally be a sensor. Fault code 0607 power train control module.

It is possible to go further and mess with the PCU, to find the actual sensor which is faulty.

You will find that the engine ECU will reset when you turn the ignition off and on again. And you will get another 20 minutes of motorway driving.

It is a pain, and can take some time to diagnose the faulty sensor, but you are better finding it, as Vauxhall will charge you loads!!!

Good luck.

2004 Vauxhall Zafira Energy 2.0 DTI turbo diesel from UK and Ireland

Summary:

Bearing in mind the cost of other make's equivalents - good value for money!

Faults:

Driver seat showing some signs of wear... Looks like many mini-plucks.

Fuel economy not as good as I expected... as low as 34mpg, and on a good straight run 43mpg!!

As with Vectra, heavy wearing on tyres... as I do 35k+ miles per year, I pay for better tyres - not your Kwik-Fit cheap specials!

Problem recently whereby after using 50 litres or so of fuel it cuts out - especially on a slight slope... When towed in 3rd gear it starts within 3 car lengths. When at filling station, it's a push to get more than 52 litres in. If it's a 58 litre tank, why would this happen?? It's just been serviced!!

General Comments:

Higher seating is very comfortable - easy access to 'middle' seats for children & car seats.

I have driven the newer Zafira and think its smoother and nippier - total different car though!

Brilliant view (except wipers!) all round.

Good size boot (unless 7 seats which I have done once)

2004 Vauxhall Zafira Elegance 1.8 from UK and Ireland

Summary:

I feel very let down

Faults:

Where do I start, part exchanged my old car, for a car which I thought was newer and wouldn't have things going wrong with it.

Automatic car... it knows its way to the garage automatically. I've had my car for 6 months now.

Day 1 I drove away from the garage and the windscreen wipers tangled up together, no problem I thought; has happen 3 times now.

I've had to have all the front suspension replaced.

Brakes, pads, disc`s that they said had all been checked; ALL replaced.

The battery now has had a full failure, and have had the AA out 3 times today to start the car.

Every time I go back to the garage to have these things mended, they tell me that none are under the warranty, and as a goodwill gesture they will mend it.

I really wish I kept my old car now.

I expected to have the car on my drive at home more than the garage ramp!!!

Looking at all the previous comments, it now looks like I have a few other problems to come soon.

I AM SO FED UP.

2004 Vauxhall Zafira 2.0 diesel from UK and Ireland

Faults:

Turn Ignition to mark II and everything appears to light up on dash board as it should. When turn key to mark III to start engine - Total Silence!

Just before car stopped working I did smell a burning smell.. I have looked at all the fuses, and they all appear to be intact. Suspect it might be the starter motor? The car has only done 33k.

2004 Vauxhall Zafira Life 1.6 from UK and Ireland

Summary:

Does the job

Faults:

Nothing so far.

General Comments:

This is a company car and as such is used nearly always with the back seats down to carry stock.

The diesel engine, I think would probably have been better suited as the 1.6 lacks power and more importantly torque.

The cabin of is extremely gloomy and a little colour would certainly help.

With the car empty, it handles well and does feel car-like to drive.

I've also suspected that the economy wasn't that good, although carrying stock in the back wouldn't help.

I was surprised as to how quickly it drinks oil.

You have done 19 miles in this car and you say it "drinks" oil. Are you sure it's a car?
