2002 Volkswagen Jetta GLS V6 from North America
Summary:
Save your money, buy anything but a VW Jetta
Faults:
Recently I had to replace my transmission or gear box, given my car has a manual transmission, but the dealer forgot to check the gear oil. After 10,000 miles the gears overheated and broke within the gear box. So make sure you check your gear box oil to avoid this problem.
The biggest complaint I have about my VW, is VW's management and their unconscionable behavior towards its customers. My VW like so many others is a fish bowl. I have cleaned my drains, yet every time it rains, the passenger side of the vehicle is flooded. The dealer acts like this is a freak thing, but after reading all of the posts, it is obviously a design defect. Personally, I will never own another VW. So much for German Engineering.
Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? No

I have experienced some of the same problems you have had with my 2002 VW Jetta. I've owned the car since it was brand new and haven't had a lot of complaints. Recently I experienced the water in the front floor board. I took it to the dealer and they repaired a clogged sunroof drain tube. This cost $123.00. Now the airbag light is on and the dealer tells me that it will cost $360.00 to replace the sensor. They also charged me $50.00 for this estimate.
I was assured by the service department that I wasn't in danger driving with the seat belt light on. Has anyone else had this problem?
