I too have had water leaking in the front driver's side footwell. I live in suburban Philadelphia and we experienced monsoon-like rains a couple of weeks ago. The water got so bad I put a bath towel on top of the floor mat to absorb the water. A few hours later I had to replace that towel with a new one b/c there was so much water leaking in. The towel was soaked. Needless to say I am completely disenchanted with this car and won't consider buying another Jetta. I am also disheartened to hear that so many others are experiencing this same leakage problem.
The water leak had happened previously about a year ago so I called the dealer and they said the sunroof drain channel could be clogged, so I got a cup of water and poured it in the sunroof well to see if it was draining properly. It was. Then went a long time with no leakage problems. After this recent leaking problem, I did the water test again, poured water in the sunroof channels and it was draining out of that plastic tube between the car body and the front door (when the door is opened you can see it). The water was draining out of the tube so I really have no idea where all the water is coming from. I don't even want to call the dealer b/c I know they'll tell me they have to take apart much of the interior of the car to figure out what's going on - and that will be expensive. This car is 5 years old and has only 47,000 miles on it. NO WAY this should be happening.
If there is a class action lawsuit about this, I would like to join in.
Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? No

I had the same problem with my sunroof "leaking" on my 2002 Jetta GLS 2.0. I got in my car one morning and the front driver side, rear driver side and the front passenger floor areas were sopping wet. I had to use several towels for several days to get it somewhat dry. The VW dealer told me that it was a clogging issue.
