2002 Volkswagen Jetta GLS TDI from North America

Summary:

First VW and will definately will be my last!!!

Faults:

Nice sporty look, but looks can be deceiving. First at 28000km the driver window fell inside the door then two days later the passenger window fell. Ruined my tint when it fell and dealer will not replace it. They make such as hassel over minor things and say "oh we cannot fix it cause warranty doesn't cover that" you honestly believe that's true the car has 4 yrs warranty bumper to bumper. I think it's a load of crap. VW knows of the problems with the falling windows and have not started to use metal parts in order for the windows not to fall again in VW new models. There has been a recall of the brake lights (like come on you can get into a serious accident and this problem should have never happened). VW has bad cutomer service reputation they do not know how to deal with their customers and don't know how to fix a problem the first time. My jetta had to go back o the dealer on 3 separate occasions just to fix my windows after they were replaced since one window completed broke. After replaced the window was not put right on its track and wouldn't open only would after 2-3 times after pushing button. VW have serious problems that people would think they wouldn't after being in business for 25 yrs.

General Comments:

Owning a TDI diesel they are very fuel efficient, but I guess I can say the money I save on fuel doesn't benefit the headaches my jetta has put me through.

Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? No

2002 Volkswagen Jetta sedan 1.7 from North America

Summary:

Horrible

Faults:

I was a Jetta fan and loved the style and everything about the car, so I saved and saved and saved for a 2002 used Jetta. Unknowingly that this car, would be just a big problem. Ever sinve I have owned it there is something new EVERY week that seems to be going wrong with it. I have spent over 2,000 dollars in repairs because VW only cover to 50,000 mph. They have all been Transmissions problems and have taken it to the dealer 4 or 5 times and still get no help. THis car has only 55,000 mph on it, this car should not be having this many problems! And also, brakes, and the radio. I am stressed and really upset that I have wasted thousand of dollars when I could of gotten something better. Anyone who is thinking about buying a Jetta. DON'T!!! Please research the car and make sure everything works, if it does, give it a month and it'll quit, so in the end it is a LEMON!

General Comments:

Don't buy one. your just asking for stress. and you will waste your money.

I don't think you should be buying anything, period.

50,000 mph? That's one damn fast jetta.

I think the reviewer means Miles, not MPH, so stop trying to be so smart.

I'm being smart because this person is being so stupid and doesn't deserve to be on the road when they confuse miles and mph...

27th Mar 2006, 20:37

Yea I did mean miles. I'm sorry. But everything I typed was the truth. And since I have typed that something new has popped up wrong with my car. It is for sure going to be traded or sold, and it can be someone else's problem. Read everyone else's reviews, you'll see they are all the same.

The 2002 Jetta was a piece of garbage. I have under 50,000 miles and my car has been in and out of the shop. Ive also had my transmission replaced already, and its going out again. I am on a personal name basis with the service techs there. So. Don't buy one, or get rid of yours ASAP. Buy a Honda... Those last forever. I am truly disgusted with my Jetta's performance.

Any advice why my car sometimes doesn't want to come out of park when my foot is applied all the way down on the brake?
