I own a 2003 Jetta which I bought new. My driver side window keeps falling in. The car has only 15000 miles. I called VW Customer service to find out if this was a problem. I was told they had never heard of it. I was also told that my car was out of warranty.
I have spoken to several VW mechanics, and have been told that it has been a problem for along time. I am German, but I will never buy another VW with such a bad warranty.

I have noticed a lot of bad things about the Jetta and VW in general. I am looking at a 2002 Jetta GLX VR6, with a 102,000 miles on it, the person has every receipt and record on the car. Just curious if anybody has a VR6 with a Tiptronic Transmission and if they are having a ton of issues with it.

I bought a VW Jetta 2002 T1.8 with 56K on it and fell in love. But like most fast loves, we have been going through some passive-aggressive bumps on the road. Now I know that I am just one of many, I feel relieved and chumped at the same time.
My passenger window fell into the door a week after I left the dealership. My middle console clip is broken and the VW dealer won't fix it even though I am still on warranty - I am fighting this one. There have been other warning lights etc. but I have elected to forgive VW every time... $2-300 dollars at a time...
I am still going to keep the relationship going, because I guess I like to be abused. I don't think that there is another VW in my future with Honda not giving any of my friends these issues.

I purchased a 2002 automatic VR6 Jetta with 97k miles... a month later I've begin noticing that there was something wrong with the transmission; the car feels weird in low gear, the gears go in pretty rough, and then you feel a jerking, followed by a sound like a bump!! This is only when the car is cold, so I thought it was normal...
Last week we went down to Mexico, and on the long wait to cross the border back to the US, I noticed a smell like when the engine is hot, but my temp. needle was indicating normal operating temp. As soon as we went through the border inspection, and began heading to the freeway, I could feel heat coming from the bottom of the dashboard, and I could feel the heat on my legs got pretty hot soon... Then the car would not speed-up, the RPM's were pretty high, so I engaged the emergency lights and parked along side of the freeway, thinking how much this is going to cost me and how much money I currently have for a hotel, since we live about 100 miles from the border. I turned the ignition off and waited, 1 minute later I turned the ignition on again. The car started moving; I didn't press the gas too hard, we got to 80mph, the car was fine and got us all the way home?... Weird!!...
1- My question is; did the transmission heat-up and why?
2- Should I change the transmission filter if there is one?
Any suggestion would be appreciated, I know I need to sell this car, but I would like to find out.

I have a 2002 Jetta TDI, and I love it, but now with the gas prices, it's not that economical anymore. I've had a few problems with it from the t=start, and everything started after the warranty ended. Peeling had grips. After spending a lot of money on timing belt replacement, etc. I find that the car won't move when I put it in reverse. Sometimes it does and other times it doesn't. Any help out there to what it could be? I know the dealer will want to take me to the cleaners again.
