Taking my CC on a three hour trip to PA tomorrow as I have before. Very comfortable and wonderful to drive. I'm 6'. I'll get around 34 mpg averaging 75-80 mph. I can't imagine how a Toyota Prius owner could prefer it to the VW. It's the same difference between a driving a golf cart and a well engineered machine.

Re: comfy seats on Saabs, etc, you are correct. Subjectively speaking, of course, the most comfortable seats I've sat on were in SAABs and Volvos. Volvos, at least from the brochures in the late '80s, have their seats designed with the help of orthopedic surgeons.
Mercedes seats are pretty good, even without the lumbar support adjustment. As you are visiting Europe, you will notice that these so-called luxury brands are actually very mainstream, and many humbler brands have models that are within the same price range as a Mercedes in the lower to middle ranges.
Seat comfort can be quite subjective, as we're all built differently and if our body doesn't fit the average structure (very tall but long-legged for example), the support (lumbar, say) may not be at precisely the right spot.

Bought a 2010 CC in May, had to bring it back to the dealership because after washing the car we found the two rear stationary windows leaked.
The service department conducted a test and found the windows did not leak in rainy conditions only when under high water pressure so "car is performing to VW specs".
We were not happy at all with that response and contacted customer service. Eventually we were told the same thing, we have to live with it. So, we can't wash our new car?! Totally unacceptable.
VW has a design flaw it will not acknowledge or address. Poor customer service - Buyer beware! Would never buy another VW!

Volvo have comfortable seats - the soft sofa type that don't actually "hug" your body. The Saabs were similar, but not as comfy as the Volvo ones. In a BMW seat you feel there is a geometry and the seat wraps your body. A very different concept. I sat in a special option leather A6 seat and those were truly amazing in terms of comfort, both soft and supportive. Some higher trim leather Accord and Acura sedans had close comfort, however Honda has their seats low to the floor so leg position is weird for taller drivers.

Thanks for the tip that sometimes the Audis have comfortable seats. Since we go to Germany every year anyway, we have been considering buying a car on the overseas purchase program. But we had crossed Audi off our list because when we have taken test drives, we have not been able to even get out of the dealer parking lot before my wife starts complaining about the seats. She likes the BMW seats. Volvo and SAAB seats too. We haven't tried Mercedes because of the fat cat image, but maybe we will get over that.
