2016 Volvo V40 D3 R-Design Nav 2.0 diesel from UK and Ireland

Summary:

Overrated

Faults:

EGR valve, MAF sensor, gear linkage issues, headlight issues, all pretty expensive to repair.

General Comments:

Quick, comfortable and modern car, the V40 is a fine hatchback if all you want is a good to drive run about.

Bought this 2016 V40 model back in 2020, the car shone like new and drove fantastic on test.

Unfortunately in recent years, reliability has been average at best, and even so called local Volvo "Specialists" are expensive to fix this car.

Also the miles per gallon average figures are a work of fiction (claimed 74 MPG); you will get nowhere near them realistically. 60 MPG is possible through a mix of short and long journeys though, which is OK. 2.0 diesel has plenty power.

Visibility is bit limited. The car is very comfortable however, R-Design spec is a good one. Good looking in blue.

So a decent car, but not that reliable for the money I paid, plus my old 2005 S40 was better in my opinion, it gave me less issues.

Sold this V40 last year, quite glad to see the back of it to be honest, not recommended. Volvo are not what they once were :(

Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Don't Know
