1970 Wolseley 18/85 1.8 petrol from UK and Ireland
Summary:
Much better than it looked!
Faults:
Syncromesh failed on 2nd gear.
Hydrolastic suspension pipe split.
Stub axle snapped.
#3 exhaust valve burnt out when I bought it.
General Comments:
I bought the car when I was an impoverished student after leaving the navy, my friends laughed at my old mans car at first, but after a few back road face offs over the Yorkshire moors, I often had the last laugh.
It delivered relatively quick performance coupled with roadholding that belied its middle aged image, and was very roomy and comfortable.
The seats would recline to form a double bed, which aided my attempts at courting as well.
The car started falling apart from old age under my ownership, but I will always remember it with affection.
Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? No
