We are also experiencing a similar situation. Just purchased a 2000 Ford Ranger XLT 4x4 with 140,000 miles on it. Need to pass emissions in Georgia, misfire on 4, 5 & 6. Took it for a diagnostic test. Cracked head that somebody put Bar's leak in and removed the thermostat to prevent it from overheating. We are told we need a new engine, because they do not recommend rebuilding a head on an engine that already has over 100,000 miles. Any comments? Anyone? Help!!!

I had the same problem on and off, but now for the last year it's fine. What was wrong with yours?
