I have a 2002 Holden Cruze, which has 40,000 klms on the speedo.
There is a low pitch grinding noise in the front, which seems to be coming out of the gearbox. I have had the gearbox and transfer case out once before, but nothing was found to be causing the problem. There were no signs of metal filings in any of the oils, included the diff. I have the box out again now; have you got any ideas what in particular I should look at. Any help would be much appreciated.

Thank you Bob.

Hey bud, what were your minor modifications on the Cruze gearbox?
Cheers.

Thank you for that post. I am a single mum trying to fix my daughter's car. You seem to know what you are talking about. Could you please email me what I need to do? She has an 03 Holden Cruze hatch manual, and it seems the clutch has gone in it. When it is turned on, you can't get gears at all. Turned off you can. When you get a chance to get a gear, it vibrates. Please email me on bushmates@hotmail.com
Thank you very much.

Hi mate,
Just read your bit on the Holden Cruze gear box problems. I have one that has just had the same problem. Would you say these are internal problems, as that's all my warranty will cover?

Hi mate, could you please let me in on your modifications please? I'm fixing a gearbox issue (5th gear noises) for a friend. Much appreciated.

Hi, I saw your comment on this website, are you located within Australia?
I was recently told I needed to replace my diff, gearbox and driveshafts in order to stop a clunking sound in my car... It clunks repetitively and loudly whenever the car has a little pressure (accelerating around corners, going up hill, over-taking) and more often when the car is cold (just when accelerating out of the driveway even!).
I've not gone ahead with any of these repairs as I feel the "several thousand dollar" mark is too much... If you are in Sydney area I'd really like for you to have a look at it.
