If the person who wrote the above statement really believes it, I feel very sorry for him/her. This statement has NO basis in reality.

Well I assure you that I am a true American and I am dismayed to read such statements (as the one above) that make Americans look like so shortsighted.

Most Americans are fair people who understand that the world does not end at our borders. Most of us see statements like the one above and shudder with just the thought that such intolerance could actually still exist in a free society such as ours.

Most of us have at least some inkling of how a free market economy, and how a global marketplace works. We also realize that there are no true domestics or imports, that "The Big Three" have outsourced jobs, and also have joined in partnerships with overseas companies.

As far as the "Patriotic American" - My dad was a decorated veteran of World War II, and he would shake his head in disbelief if he read original statement that I quoted here.

To expect our citizens to close our markets and buy only what this person considers domestic products (actually the Fusion is built in Mexico) flies in the face of what our country stands for.

I don't want a GM product, because the last two I owned were half-made in Canada and required two sets of tools... it had nothing to do with being patriotic.

A lot of 'foreign' cars are made in the US, and Americans get paid to build them... while many 'domestic' cars are built in other countries, or half-built there and assembled here.

I'm with the other people on this forum who say it is the lawmakers and corporations that have wrecked the idea of buying into patriotism. We don't really even make anything anymore.
