I have had the van for 5 years now and put another 60000km on it. It has been mega reliable. I ended up buying an aftermarket alternator as the parts I bought for the existing one didn't last long. That cost $330 for a new alternator from somewhere in Roseworthy SA.

I need to sell it now as I have a daughter and she can't ride in the van with me. Would I buy another one at some stage? Yes.

I recently bought a 1998 VG 2ltr Campervan LWB (poptop) off a friend of mine. Only had 167,000 kms on it. Mechanically sound. Only issue is that it would lose power going up a hill. Sent the van to Ford for analysis. They couldn't find any faults. Sent to the local garage and they suggested replacing spark plugs and oxygen sensor. Replaced plugs and it ran beautifully. Still a hint of surging up a hill. I disconnected the oxygen sensor and couldn't believe it but the van runs perfectly. Ordered a new oxygen sensor for $105.00 including delivery. No other issues. Did a full service on the van about 3,000 kms ago. Oil is still clear and hasn't burnt a drop. So happy with the van. Also it's easy to access the engine not like the others under the seats. Not bad as I only paid $2,000 for it. Hope to be heading back to Tasmania from Western Australia in it this October. Depending on this Covid.
