Anyone who knows what the Mustang is about CAN tell the difference both visually and performance wise. Calling a V6 Mustang a performance car is like calling a ballerina a heavy weight champ.

Absolutely right! And I am also not sure why there is any argument over this issue. If owners of either car are truly happy with what they've got, then why would they care about the owners of what they haven't got?
Of course, you can tell one from another. One has either a "GT" on the fender or now a "5.0". Much of the rest of the car is the same from the outside however.
