You are so wrong about this one. Why would Ford go to the lengths they go to in promoting the Mustang if no one cares about performance? The Mustang is a performance car that has a very long history of performance models associated with it. Just because your circle of friends cares nothing about performance, doesn't make that the norm. I am not saying it is a bad thing to buy a V6 Mustang if you are into the style. I just think that it is unrealistic to assume that so many people are clueless about the Mustang heritage, and which model is which.

Yeah, that is a bit of an overestimate of unknowing people there. Everyone I know can easily tell the difference between a GT and a base Mustang... easily! Oh, and actually the 1995 was still a 5.0. They didn't start the 4.6 until 1996.
The people that don't know anything about the Mustang really shouldn't waste the time and money on one, and they should just stick with a Fusion or a Focus. Why spend the extra money on a Mustang? If you care so little about it, then what is the point?
As far as me driving mine? I could care less if every other person knows which model it is or what is under the hood. Your opinion has no basis though, otherwise why would Ford keep upping the power on these cars? Did they make the new GT 412 hp because 99.99% of the people out there don't care or know what that means? Yeah, keep telling yourself that!
Funny thing is, even most of the V6 owners admit to upgrades that make their car faster and more powerful...
