Buick is GM, and '79-'83 includes both A-body and G-body platforms according to your comment, so there may have been some early run or limited production G-bodies back in '79 before being fully implemented in '82.

Good point. When describing any car, one wants to put the year along with the body code, engine and drive train layout, and then we are on the same level.
