If I were taking out a new starter vehicle loan, I would buy a newer smallest vehicle with a long warranty. Lower interest rate too. A big unforeseen repair plus payments in a starter vehicle is a concern. Plus newer is usually more reliable for work. I would buy an inexpensive starter new vehicle. My kids did that and have pretty low payments. I use to get phone calls with older ones that they broke down. And it wasn't really cheaper to buy overall over time.
