Is buying a 2003 F350 with 223,000 miles on it crazy, or does it still have plenty of life left in it for pulling a horse trailer? It already had the head gasket changed (or so the owner claims).

I have a 2003 F-350 6.0 diesel. I get about 12 miles per gallon. What might be the problem?
