Faults:

I had to replace the alternator at around 60,000 miles, and I recently replaced the belts, vacuum hoses, and spark plugs at 82,000 miles. I had to replace the lower radiator hose at around 80,000 miles. The car does need some extensive brake system work right now, though the issues are more age than quality related (calipers, wheel cylinders, and drum hardware). The paint has also began to flake off, leaving it in dire need of a paint job. The fabric of the interior roof of the car has started to come loose and hang down from the ceiling. Both of the front power window motors need to be replaced.

General Comments:

Overall, I am very happy with my investment in the car. I payed $500 for it seven years ago, and I have invested about $200 in repairs so far in seven years. All together, including the paint job and roof repair, it needs about $1000 in repairs. This would definitely bring my investment over the blue book value of the car, but due to the cars reliability and relatively low mileage, I will have no problem making the investment, regardless of the value of the car.

Faults:

I have had the front right wheel bearing go out. Also I have had to have a new ignition put in.

General Comments:

This is a good usually reliable car. The 3.3 v-6 engine really puts that thing down the road. But as far as I am concerned the interior is JUNK. The car also rusts too easily.

Faults:

The typical recall items have gone wrong with my Buick.

The biggest problem I have is when I go around a curve and take my foot off the gas. When I press the gas again, toward the end of the curve, the engine revs up to the 4 to the 4 and a half mark without shifting.

The power steering line goes under the passenger door and had a rust hole when I bought it. I have to put in power steering fluid every two days.

The driver seat will not sit up all the way.

General Comments:

This is my first car and I love her despite her faults; but that's real love, right?

There is plenty of trunk space.

I just can't seem to get my jack out, though.

The seats aren't too bad except the fact the driver seat won't sit up all the way and the passenger seat no longer locks.

Every Buick owner I know loves their Buick. I can see why.

Faults:

Nothing have gone wrong with the car in reference to defects. I have replaced the muffler and exhaust pipes due to salt damage and corrosion, and I had a leaky power stearing reservoir around 88,000 miles.

General Comments:

I love this car. It handles extremely well and the engine is excellent with this body style and weight. Due to the relative lightness of the car and the power of the 3.3 Liter in it, I enjoy excellent performance, especially in regards to acceleration.

One of the best things I like about the 1991 Buick Skylark, is that my particular one did not come with all of the fancy engine electronics and diagnostic equipment like most cars are equipped with today. Due to this, I enjoy far less maintence headaches, and trips to my mechanic, and the repairs are much cheaper.
