<<Oh well, I'm not too worried. I see four times as many new Impala's and Fusion's than what I see new Camry's>.

Just because you live near a Ford/Chevy dealership does not make your post any more valid.

Camry sells significantly more than Impala and Fusion combined.

<<Yes 15:53, we domestic drivers are worried about Toyota taking over. For one, we don't like our country losing to the Japanese (that doesn't make me feel very proud), and then having to work for them and contributing to their take-over.>.

But you're more than happy to let the communist Chinese win. After all, most of America shops at Wal-Mart and guess how much stuff is made in American there?

17th Jan 2007, 05:20

I care about all comparisons especially how trucks are constructed. I test drove Toyota, Nissan and domestics...

17th Jan 2007, 12:59

How many Toyota total trucks and how many Fords were sold last year alone class? Lets total the frown % and see that Ford % is less because there were a lot more sold!

17th Jan 2007, 15:51

Regardless of the fact that I never haul ANYTHING with my truck, I still drive a Ford. Why on Earth would I want to pay more for a poorer quality vehicle like the Tundra, regardless of what use I put it to?? It costs more and doesn't get any better fuel mileage than a V-8 domestic, so what's the advantage??

17th Jan 2007, 16:55

16:42...so why are you able to buy a new Camry made in China? I think I also saw this Walmart comment before. I do not shop there and I drive domestics. Were you shopping there? Are there signs in the parking lot "No imports" I know that a lot of our building materials, masonry etc have risen because of China including its massive dam construction. If you like all our money being reinvested elsewhere we deserve the fate we may be destined for. I bought a new American truck and love it.

17th Jan 2007, 21:19

Well, no need for more comments, everyone. It looks like 18:24 just settled the whole debate for us in just two sentences.

Sorry. I just got my keyboard soaked with apple juice from laughing so hard. I'm a terrible liar.

17th Jan 2007, 21:37

Comment 18:24 really cites a lot of facts and data to support his claim doesn't he??

18th Jan 2007, 05:14

I always felt the German vehicles were the best engineered. Wonder why they cost so much more? I guess we will be lining up next for $20,000 luxury Chinese sedans in the near furure.

18th Jan 2007, 07:59

And all of your truck's components came from the good ole USA, eh?

18th Jan 2007, 13:04

I saw those vehicles in the Dec 06 Consumer reports and I hope I never see the day that it the limitations of our choices. If China produces interesting fun to drive stylish vehicles like America I will be interested. I would rather see Corvettes, Vipers, Challengers, SS cars and trucks with performance V8's great handling and style... I personally dislike all the blah sedans, underpowered trucks and vans that keep appearing. I am open minded sure we need thrift gas savers, but some of us fear that we are going to have to drive Yaris vehicles exclusively if the trend continues...

18th Jan 2007, 13:09

I think GM's new Silverado is the best new truck on the planet. Its my opinion and I feel so... I do not need proof.

18th Jan 2007, 18:34

"And all of your truck's components came from the good ole USA, eh?"

No, I would say that there are a lot more foreign parts on many domestic vehicles today, but guess what; the profit made from those domestics stay in our economy instead of fattening up the Japanese.

Enough about the Wal-Mart mumbo-jumbo. I don't help them to allow the Chinese to take us over, at all. I boycotted them over Christmas of 06'. I rarely go there, unless I'm desperate and every other store in town is closed. Not only that, but Wal-Mart is an American company so the profits that it brings in, regardless of how well the Chinese do, still stays in our country.

As for the "Camry's selling better than Fusion's and Impala's combined" statement, I live closer to a Toyota dealership than I do a GM or Ford dealership. I drive the roads 200 miles a day through up to six cities/towns a day. Anywhere I go, I see more of the new Impala's and I see more Fusion's than what I see of the NEW Camry's. Each Camry design gets more mushy and boring than the last. I think that some people are getting tired of that same old, numb-feeling, yawn-with-wheels mobile that are everywhere like some sort of Camry epidemic or infestation.

I can barely stay awake thinking about them.

At least with the somewhat plain Impala's, you can get a V-8 with a stiffer suspension and yet, pay less for it.

18th Jan 2007, 18:50

GM the worlds largest automaker actually sold more cars and trucks overseas last year than in the U.S.A. 4.97 million vehicles up about7%from 2005. Is there something the overseas countries are appreciating even more than we do? Just imagine if fuel prices restored themselves to a realistic level instead of being herded into underpowered sedans and trucks... my favorite vehicle the 2007 Silverado is outstanding.

19th Jan 2007, 08:58

This statement makes no sense. Silverado would NOT sell well in foreign markets since Americans are the ONLY ones who really love pickups.

And you really think encouraging more gas guzzlers is the way to independence from foreign oil?

19th Jan 2007, 09:03

<<"And all of your truck's components came from the good ole USA, eh?"

No, I would say that there are a lot more foreign parts on many domestic vehicles today, but guess what; the profit made from those domestics stay in our economy instead of fattening up the Japanese.>.

Proof please. After all, GM just announced it is expanding its foreign operations to feed cars into America, and guess where that money is coming from?

The profits from the imports built here stay here since they are reinvested. Or where did you think Toyota is getting the money to build FIVE new plants in America.

19th Jan 2007, 09:06

I see, so the fact that WalMart eliminated millions of American jobs by forcing its suppliers to close down US production means nothing.

Just like the fact that US auto manufacturers have closed down many plants and laid off tens of thousands.

But the fact that Hyundai, Honda, Toyota, and many others have BROUGHT jobs to America (and well paying jobs at that - a worker at Toyota plant is not making WalMart wages) is a bad thing.

19th Jan 2007, 10:11

I totally agree with comment 21:08.

Toyota really is an amazing company in that it can build flimsier, less reliable and inferior vehicles, and still sell this garbage for full list.

As a follower of modern science, I also feel that the commenter is definitely onto something with his "fueled by ugly (U85) " hypothesis. Now that I think of it, every Toyota I have ever seen (ESPECIALLY the new Camry!!) looks as if it were designed by people who hate sportiness and beauty. Not that I'm advocating that domestics try using U85. I'd rather get worse mileage and not have to walk backwards getting into my car or truck to keep from looking at it.
